More about Emilio Frank Design

Shana Danon – artist and designer, creates vibrant paintings, prints and patterns from her Bondi studio, Emilio Frank Design.

Inspired by a passion for Mid Century modernism, Shana’s artwork celebrates form, function and colour with a touch of whimsy – intending to evoke joyful memory and happy spaces.
Emilio Frank Design creates conversational pieces for those who love to live colourfully.

Shana’s signature style that includes indigo line-works, vibrant pops of colour, organic motifs and geometric abstraction. Lunar themes, trees, circles and arches feature throughout her work, referencing the past with nostalgic sensibility and a contemporary twist.

Growing up in a family of artists nurtured Shana to become a maker and work across a variety of media and surfaces, including giclee, canvas, textiles, home-wares, jewellery and stationery. She enjoys collaborating with local makers and endeavours to create locally and ethically made, eco-friendly products using sustainable materials.

Emilio Frank Design is named in honour of her creative grandfathers, Emil and Frank. Family folklore of Schnitzel the dachshund (her grandmother’s puppy) inspired the collectible range of home-wares.

Shana shares her love of hometown Sydney through her collections, most recently the Iconic Series, which celebrates the icons of Australian architecture – the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. The patterns and prints from these works also feature in the current jewellery collection.

Shana enjoys collaborating with local makers and has enjoyed many career highlights, including artworks appearing on home renovation shows such as House Rules and Selling Houses, being published in coffee table book ‘Pattern Pulse’ – which shares the work of 100 Australian Surface Designers and collaborating with local fashion label The Arlo Studio in their capsule textile collection that debuted at NYFW 2020.

Shana’s artworks are collected locally and internationally.
