Created by Culture is an eco-friendly jewellery brand that creates stunning pieces out of recycled glass. They collect discarded bottles and glass, which they then clean, melt, and mould into beautiful upcycled treasures. Their pieces are classic, handmade and perfect for sensitive ears.
Created by Culture has unwavering focus on social and environmental change. Their process is innovative, purpose-led, and is best described in three stages: COLLECT, CREATE and ELEVATE.
COLLECT: Poor waste disposal is one of Ghana’s biggest challenges. Ghana has no public waste disposal system, and so dumping remains the only affordable option for many Ghanaians. Created by Culture’s artisans dedicate time to cleaning the community, collecting discarded bottles and glass from the streets and coastlines of Ghana. They also have collection points for public recycling, allowing individuals to play a role in creating environmental change.
CREATE: Created by Culture uses the waste that they collect resourcefully. Using traditional Ghanaian techniques dating back to the 17th century, the team in Ghana transform the glass by grinding it into powder, and baking each individual bead in clay moulds. Each bead is then polished to perfection and posted to Sydney Australia, where each necklace, earring and bracelet is made by hand by Created by Culture’s owner, Caroline.
