Kayla Reay is based in Sydney’s Inner West and has a passion for illustration and nature. As a life-long bird fanatic, she brings this enthusiasm to the paper with purposeful pencil strokes and eye-catching colours which intend to reflect the unique personalities of each character she captures.
Kayla’s creative drive developed during her childhood in Wollongong, where she spent lots of time creating alongside her mother, exploring her natural world and bush walking. Kayla remains an avid hiker and continues to take inspiration for her artworks on each of her daily walks. She has a keen eye for birdlife and enjoys the meditative act of bird watching while out and about.
From greeting cards to tea towels, Kayla creates products with the intention of sharing her love of Australiana wildlife. Her hand-illustrated ‘bird bouquets’ depict scenes of Australian floral arrangements with native birds perched amongst. Each of her products are created with love and are designed and printed within Australia and packaged with personal touches.
Creating is meditative for Kayla and she always creates alongside an oversized cup of tea and her budgerigars, Buckwheat and Farro. Kayla works traditionally with polychromos pencils and her pieces celebrate the diversity and colours within Australian flora and fauna.
If you’re looking for a personalised gift for yourself or loved ones, Kayla also offers pet commissions. Contact her through one of the links above to find out more about custom original artworks.
