Greetings from Outer Island, a pocket of paradise reimagining Australian souvenirs as sustainably made local goods that celebrate the magic of native plants, animals and habitats. The collaboration of Stephanie Chambers (artist) and Amy Ranck (designer), the Sydney based duo are avid birders, snorkelers and founders of the Sydney Bird Club.
Partnering with BirdLife Australia, the Australian Marine Conservation Society and Foundation and Friends of the Botanic Gardens, 5% from sales of corresponding products are donated to these organizations working hard to preserve Australia’s oceans, plants and special creatures.
The duo is best known for hand-painted Australian native flora and fauna Christmas decorations bringing the magic of Australia into your home and onto your Christmas tree. Summer is a special time of year in Australia and Outer Island’s hand-painted wooden ornaments, tree toppers and bon-bons reflect this with soaring cockatoos and flowering gum blossoms. The pair pay homage to many special creatures found in Sydney including the Weedy Seadragon and Australian Pelican, but the Christmas range includes iconic Australian animals far and wide.
Outer Island’s brand new Paradise Collection explores nature in Sydney, celebrating the Bondi to Manly Walk with a line of museum grade art prints, greeting cards and tea towels. With a firm belief that ‘wherever there is nature, there is paradise,’ the duo showcases that there is magic all around us, even in cities, if we only stop to look. Sustainably made as local as possible, Outer Island’s products are all plastic free and thoughtfully made in Australia.
