Foolhouse is a bespoke vintage label created by interior & graphic designer, Sarah Lamond, creating products that make the ordinary a little more extraordinary.
Sarah is drawn to the re-use of old collectibles for enchanting purposes, donating 10% of her takings to Lifeline. She rescues the very best of forgotten antique books from landfill, bringing them back into circulation for the sustainability of the environment & our imagination. These collectibles are transformed into instant family heirlooms such as her Secret Vintage Booksafes and her handmade literary paper sculptures captured in glass bell jars or found in frames for your library walls. Sarah carves whimsical shaped pockets out of the books such as peacocks, Jane Austen or your favourite dacshund or simply the perfect rectangle for passports and escape-money hiding! Sarah’s work has been featured in the Artisans in the Gardens Sculpture Exhibition at The Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney and has been found gracing the pages of many Australian magazines.
Her product range is evolving all the time but she always has her much coveted staple, the Mary Poppin’s vintage inspired children’s height charts on hand – Doorjam – full of tall tales, they fit in your door jamb and come in a jam jar! These delightful growth charts are only 30mm wide and as tall as your door frame and are a delight to grow up alongside. Available in 5 colours and stories, they have been part of childhood nostalgia for nearly a decade now.
Following Foolhouse on Instagram or Facebook gives one a peek into the shenanigans that go on in this foolish house of creativity and an insight into what happens in a sydney made and making studio. There’s never a dull moment!
