More about Barocky Chocky

Barocky Chocky began as a necessary outlet for the feverish imagination and creativity of Andrew Burns. For a long time he had a love of 20th century commercial art: the sense of fun and education, the wonderful stylisation and colour. He had always also been a compulsive observer. He decided to combine these passions to see if others appreciated what he did… and they do!

Barocky Chocky’s first product was a handmade book championing Sydney’s electrical substations. The success of this encouraged him to sing the praises of other subjects that spoke to him, and the ideas and themes continue to flow.

As you might have guessed Andrew is very interested in heritage and Barocky Chocky prints celebrate many facets of our architectural and transport history. They make great gifts for the local history, transport or architecture buff and are fantastic conversation starters.

Barocky Chocky also has a range of colourful and fun greeting cards, which celebrate all manner of subjects, from world travel and transport as well as the natural world and our beloved flora and fauna. Andrew also handmakes books of his photography and illustration. Barocky Chocky recently proudly self-published a full colour children’s book about Sydney’s transport heritage, called Noisy!

All illustrations and design are created by Barocky Chocky on his trusty Mac and printed by industry leaders Carbon8, on Addison Road in Marrickville, Sydney. Any finishing is done by Andrew and his trusty scalpel and bone knife!
