Jo, the warm smiling face behind the accessories brand, One Busy Sloth, brings you colourful and cute little pouches, clutches and face masks. The name One Busy Sloth is a mischievous play with words – an oxymoron. In a nut shell, Jo was the laziest person when growing up – doing as little as possible. But since becoming a mum, she thrives on busy – she’d have ants in her pants if she had to sit around doing nothing! And hence she’s now known as the One Busy Sloth!
Jo come from a family of dreamers and makers. She all grew up wearing mum’s kimono style night dress made on her Singer treadle sewing machine, something she felt she took for granted back then, not appreciating the love that went into making them. Jo’s father had a knack for dreaming up amazing lantern designs that he’d make to sell during the mid-autumn festival at their old shop in Chinatown Singapore. It is no surprise that Jo will follow in her parents’ love of designing and making.
When Jo is not playing with fabric, you will find her in her second favorite room of the house – the kitchen. Baking is her other talent. Her neighbours are happy benefactors of her sweet treats. She hardly breaks a sweat baking a four-tiered Black Forest Cake. Just don’t call her a domestic goddess!
Jo’s gorgeous accessories are all handmade in a small studio in Sydney’s leafy Hills District. Being in nature is part of her creative process. When you shop with One Busy Sloth, you can be sure your next slow fashion gift is made with care and meticulous workmanship.
